Why the name change from DEVICE? Over the last few years, other bands with the same/similar names have emerged in the UK and throughout the world. The final straw came when we had our name hi-jacked just over a year ago by a band who changed their name, but were incapable of thinking of something "NEW". Why "PRIMAL", well in dictionary terms it means: "THE FIRST" - "THE ELDEST" - "THE ORIGINAL" which we are, we also wanted to keep the connection with DEVICE because of the huge amount of loyal fans we have aquired throughout the years.

We feel the new name adds strength to our image, suits our sound, and with the new artwork for our album "Obstacles and Playgrounds" the launch is complete. If you have one of the original white copies they're now limited edition (you lucky buggers) and we will be keeping a few copies back for any ardent fans who want to cherish the bands humble beginnings.
